CHRISTIAN DEMOCRATIC ALLIANCE
The Christian Democratic Alliance is an alliance of the following Parties:
Federation of Democrats (Leader: Louis Green)
Christian Democratic Party (Leader: Rev. Theunis G Botha)
Alliance for Community Transformation (Leader: Mr Colin Fibiger).
New Labour Party (Leader: Peter Marais)
These parties are based predominately in the Western Cape, Gauteng and Eastern Cape respectively. Talks are continuing with different parties in other provinces. All the parties making up the Alliance will continue as separate independent entities until the 2009 election, when they and other like minded parties that join the Alliance between now and then, will together contest the elections under the banner of the CDA.
The different leaders and two delegates from each party make up the Federal Leadership Council (FLC). A rotating Chairman, appointed by the FLC for a period of one year will act as the spokesperson of the Alliance.
A united effort will be made, between now and the 2009 elections, to advance, expand and promote the CDA. We will continually reach out to other interested parties.
Our objective is ... to present the electorate with an alternative to the secular/humanist ANC and DA.
Besides presenting the country with innovative policies that offer real solutions and not just empty promises, a strong stand will be taken on all moral issues. We believe that a return to sound moral standards will go a long way in addressing major problems such as crime, HIV/AIDS, poverty and corruption, which our nation is currently grappling with.
